S.V.S. SUDHAKAR, Director (HRD), Visakhapatnam Port Trust was awarded with Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) by Andhra University for his thesis on “Strategic HRD in the Changing Environment - a Case study of Visakhapatnam Port Trust.”

He did this research under the guidance of Prof K. Ramesh, principal Director and Prof T. Subbaraidu, Joint Director.

In the context of Visakhapatnam Port Trust undergoing critical changes in terms of Organsational restructuring and modernization, his study and recommended strategic HRM model for VPT will be of immense relevance to the port.

D. Murali Krishna, a research scholar from Dr. B.R Ambedkar College of Law has been awarded a Ph.D in Law on “Right to Shelter- A Socio Legal Study with Reference to Andhra Pradesh State” by Andhra University.

He did this research under the guidance of Prof. D. Surya Prakasa Rao from Dr. B.R Ambedkar College of Law.

The proposed state open university will function from Utkal University premises here. The finance departmen has made an initial budgetary provision of Rs 30 crore for the varsity. Besides, the state will give Rs 5 croreadditional grant to the open varsity annually.

After a review meeting on Friday, chief minister Naveen Patnaik asked the officials concerned to prepare a draft Bill for the university soon.

The meeting chaired by the CM also decided to convert Utkal into a digital university. From admission to publication of results, the varsity interface will be 100% computerized. The Odisha Knowledge Corporation will implement the digitization move. There will be similar initiatives in other state universities.
